Because we all have lazy days, this is one of my favorite beauty tools for getting a fresh start in the morning or leaving my face simple and clean right before bed. While it's not to be used in place of a face wash or a cleanser, it's something quick and easy that can be added as a great addition to your routine (or, if you're like me, is better than nothing at all). With the soothing essence of pears, this is a gentle formula for the most sensitive of faces.
What is micellar water?
Micellar Water contains little ball shaped molecules called micelles. They have lipophilic ends that are super attracted to dirt and oils, and hydrophilic ends that cling to water.
How does it work?
Dampen a cotton pad (preferably reusable!) or a wash cloth with some of the micellar water. The ends that love water will cling to the fibers of your cotton pad/washcloth, and the oil and dirt loving ends stick out from the pad waiting to cling to dirt and oil. When you wipe the micellar water dampened cotton pad across your face, the dirt and oil loving ends do their job by removing dirt and oil from your face leaving you with clean, fresh skin.
Micellar water is often used as a makeup remover, so try that out next time instead of a landfill-bound makeup remover wipe! Using your washcloth or reusable cotton pad soaked in micellar water, hold the moistened material over your eyelid for 3 to 5 seconds (but not too drippy to where it gets in your eyes). While avoiding rubbing too harshly, wipe the makeup in even, slow swipes.
